Tracking performance of my former players

August 7, 2011

Over the weekend, a few former players I had the opportunity and privilege to have coached in New Zealand in the recent past have made some positive contributions for their clubs successes.

Firstly former New Zealand  Rebecca Tegg, who played for me in the New Zealand Universities Women’s National Team (NZU) at the 2005 World University Games (WUG) in Turkey, ending up as the tournament Golden Boot. After the successful in performance at the WUG, Rebecca went on to represent the Football Ferns at the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2008 Olympics. Rebecca, 26, scored a hatrick on the weekend for her club Eastern Suburbs to progress to the semifinals of the New Zealand National Knockout Cup. Still a lethal striker, continues her scoring exploits.

Jaime Hackett who played for NZU at two WUG in 2005 and 2007 was also on the score sheet for her club Glenfield Rovers scoring two goals in a 11-0 victory to help her club progress to the semifinals of the NZ National Knockout Cup. Story on New Zealand Football website.

Two players that played for me when I was coaching the Capital Football U16 Girls Representative team in 2007 and Wellington East Girls College in 2006 and 2007 have also performed well over the weekend as well. Liz Milne a central defender a junior and senior international for NZ, plays for in the same club with Hackett at Glenfield Rovers managed to score as well in the rout.

Former junior international 21-year-old Renee Leota, who played at two U20 FIFA Women’s World Cup for New Zealand finished up as the Golden Boot winner in the Women’s Central League with 41 goals playing for Waterside Karori. She has helped Warfies secure the Central League title this weekend and have already qualified to the semifinals of the NZ Knockout Cup back on 2nd August scoring a hatrick.

Another NZU player, like Rebecca and Jaime that played at the 2005 WUG, Emma Humphries a former senior international also scored for Warfies in the NZ Knockout Cup quarterfinals.

Wishing all the players the best of luck in the semifinals of the NZ Knockout Cup.
