A New Voice Will Command The Sidelines For The Olds College ACAC Soccer Teams This Fall.
Macky Singh Was Born Malaysia, Grew Up In New Zealand and Brings A Wealth Of International Experience With Him To Campus. The Olds College Broncos will head into next season with a new coach for both their men's & women's ACAC soccer & futsal teams. Bob Murray, Director of Athletics Fitness & Recreation, says Macky Singh comes to town following a successful stint at St. Thomas University in New Brunswick.
As for the soccer coaches from last season, Murray says Mark Oxer is continuing on at Olds College as the Broncos strength & conditioning coach. Humberto Aspillaga has moved back to the Edmonton area to pursue other coaching opportunities there.
After 2 seasons of soccer in the ACAC the Olds College Broncos men's team has an all-time record of 1 and 19, while the women are 2-17 and 1. Murray calls it one of the baby programs within their athletic department. New Broncos Soccer Head Coach Macky Singh believes one of his strengths is building programs.
His coaching helped the STU Tommies make an Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association playoff appearance for the first time in a decade last season. Singh had been with the Tommies since 2009. He was University Sport New Zealand Coach of the Year in 2001. In Malaysia he coached the U-19 Women's and Women's Senior National teams.
The Broncos played at Elks Field in 2012, last season the RKC Field was their home, but an exciting change for this fall will see them use Normie Kwong Park as the pitch for their soccer teams.
