"I had the privilege of being coached by Macky when I was 13 years old back in New Zealand. Macky is a very passionate coach who always puts 100% into his players and trainings. Macky holds high values and morals which shows through the way he speaks and coaches and I learned so much through Macky both as a player and as a person.

In 2011 Macky contacted me with the opportunity to receive a football scholarship in the U.S.A. Macky connected me with the head coach at Newberry College; a small private college in South Carolina and guided me through the process of receiving a full ride football scholarship.

This opportunity became the most important experience of my football career and one of the best experiences of my life. I am so thankful for the opportunity that Macky gave to me on a silver platter and owe Macky my success of growing as a football player immensely.

After college I went on to play semi-professionally in Australia. Thank-you Macky for making my dreams come true!"

“In 2015 Macky helped me secure a scholarship to play soccer for the Bronco woman’s team at Olds College in Olds, Alberta, Canada. This opportunity allowed me to experience soccer at a level I hadn’t experienced before in my home country New Zealand.

Macky was very supportive in my move and throughout my two collegiate years and I found Macky to be a very hands on coach. His trainings always pushed us woman to be the best version of ourselves and helped me earn several athletic awards from 2015 to 2017.

The awards I received included 2015 Broncos Women's Soccer Player of the Year and 2016 & 2017 ACAC 1st Team All-Conference awards. In 2017 I also got CCAA and ACAC player of the week, ACAC Championship All Stars, and a CCAA All-Canadian award.

Macky placed equal importance for my academic achievements just as much as my athletic ones and having his support in helping me keep a balanced work load allowed me to keep my grades up and go on to achieve a 4.0 GPA in my first semester. I also received the 2015-2016 Olds college Female Academic Student Athlete  of the year award and the 2015 CCAA Academic National All Scholar award.

I respected how Macky was a firm yet fair coach, and how he recognised and promoted the strengths of his players. I learnt a lot under Macky’s guidance and felt privileged and am thankful for all the work he done behind the scenes to get me a scholarship and to assist me in my personal journey in Canada”.

Olds College achievements:

  • 2017 CCAA Women's Soccer All-Canadian

  • 2017 ACAC Women's Soccer Player of the Year

"As a former player being coached by Macky at a very pivotal stage in my playing career (during college), I can wholeheartedly say that he is not just a coach, but a mentor and a friend. He holds strong values and has an unrelenting passion and drive for the sport that is infectious.

Under his guidance, I developed a greater understanding of the tactical side of the game, and he instilled in me the importance of mastering the technical aspects and basics of soccer/football – simplifying things.

His ability to foster a positive and encouraging environment helped our team tremendously and allowed us to develop and remain focused and motivated.

Beyond his technical expertise and tactical knowledge, what sets Coach Macky apart is his commitment to his players' personal growth and development. He genuinely cares about each player's well-being and fosters a culture of respect, teamwork, and discipline. Thank you Macky!!"

"It gives me great pleasure to write a testimonial for Macky Singh and the impact he has played in my playing and personal career to date. I first met Macky a long time ago when I first started playing football as a young, shy/reserved girl in Christchurch. I think that I was around 11 or 10 years of age and he was a Canterbury Football Coach.

It was my first interaction into a ‘Canterbury Football Trial’, and I was scared. Not because of the football and the skill, now after huge reflection, travelling the world and developing as a person, I was scared being from a minority group, poor and multicultural. Christchurch and in some respects still is today, was a very hard place for me to grow up being ‘different’. Macky, immediately made me feel comfortable, supported me and made me be not afraid to be who I was – a talented football player as well as made my family feel supported and integrated into the group. He treated everyone the same and made an effort to care for us in a way that I will always remember to this day.

Whilst playing a few seasons under Macky as coach, I developed my technique (kicking the ball, my lofted balls) and my character. I have always had fire in my belly but as a young girl, I will never forget the day Macky told me that “I need to not ever let myself down, because my attitude can ruin that” “and I will not reach my potential if I let my mind take over”. From that day on and his parting message, it has stuck with me. I worked on ways to control my outbursts and frustration and be a better player mentally before anything else.

Through playing for the New Zealand National Team and professionally, through hardships and adversity I have faced, to grow into the person I am today. I remember Macky as a coach who deeply influenced my life journey and for that I am always grateful. At a grassroots level, coaches are given barely anything to coach, Macky did this due to his passion and drive to wanting us to be better players but most importantly BETTER HUMANS. Huge credit to him."

“Macky is a passionate coach who challenges his players in order to get the best out of his team. He always makes himself available for meetings and individual sessions, and continues to update his credentials and knowledge of the game. I would not be the player I am today without his belief in me, his modern coaching style, and his love for the game.”
