Women's soccer head coach Macky Singh hopes hosting the ACAA Championships will provide additional motivation for the team. St. Thomas University has been named host of the 2014-15 Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association Soccer Championships, which will be held October 25-26 at BMO Field on the UNB campus.

Women’s soccer head coach Macky Singh is thrilled St. Thomas was chosen as the championship host and believes it will benefit the growth of soccer in the Fredericton area. “It will be a great opportunity for the women’s soccer program to partner up with community soccer clubs, STU Alumni and community organizations to help promote the event but also help grow and increase soccer participation among girls and women in Fredericton.”

The tournament will feature the top four teams from both the men’s and women’s divisions of the ACAA, with semi-final games on Saturday and championship games on Sunday. With the recent success of the women’s soccer program at STU, who reached the semi-finals two years in a row after failing to qualify for 10 years, Singh hopes hosting the championship will provide additional motivation for the team.

“The opportunity to play in front of our own supporters and community will bring added excitement and advantage to the team’s goal of winning the ACAA championship."
